Crooked Shaft Outfitters was built on the philosophy that anyone who comes into the store should feel comfortable enough to sit down, have a cup of coffee and visit with friends, and not feel as though they are being rushed through a sales process. Mike and Ruth Elliott, along with their daughter Taylor, have extended that philosophy to their website.
Mike, Ruth, and Taylor opened the doors to Crooked Shaft Outfitters, located in Anthony Kansas, in September of 2002. Since then the "Huntin' Store" has become the authority in Archery, Hunting, and Fishing supplies in South Central Kansas. Mike and Ruth want you to know that customer service is the number one priority in the store. If you are not happy, they are not happy. Having people coming in from across the United States and from as far away as England, Australia, and South Africa, customers need to feel at home when they enter the store and satisfied when they leave.
Mike has been an avid outdoorsman since his father put a BB gun in his hand at the age of eight and took him on his first quail hunt. Since then, Mike has hunted and fished just about everything that the central plains have to offer, but his first love is bowhunting Kansas Whitetails. With over 25 years experience in archery, Mike can answer almost any question that may come up when talking with newcomers to the sport. Mike is a member of the Southern Kansas Bowhunters, a local archery club in Harper County, The Kansas Bowhunters Association, National Field Archery Association, and the Kansas Archery Association. Mike also has over 15 years experience building custom arrows. Whether the arrows are built with aluminum, carbon, or wood shafts, they are some of the finest handcrafted arrows around. Mike also sets up and services new and used bows in the shop. He handcrafts Flemish Strings for the traditional archer, and has custom strings built locally for more modern equipment.
Taylor, a budding archer herself, has numerous trophies and medals under her belt from 3-D tournaments around the region and has chased wild turkeys and whitetails with her dad. Mike hopes her love of the outdoors will blossom just as his did so he can pass on the traditions that were passed on to him.
